Flooring, Drywall and Interior Finishes
Wood floors that cup, drywall seams that crack and paint that peels near windows often trace back to humidity. We choose and install finishes with that in mind.
Floors that stay flat
Solid hardwood swells and shrinks with humidity, and near the ocean that movement shows up as cupped boards and gaps. Engineered wood, porcelain tile and quality vinyl plank stay steadier. If you want solid wood, we let it acclimate in the house, check the subfloor moisture, and leave the right expansion gaps at walls.
Drywall and plaster
Cracks at the corners of windows and doors often come from movement in the framing or from water. We fix the cause first, then repair the wall with mesh and compound or with new board. In bathrooms and laundry rooms we use moisture-resistant board, and in older houses we can repair original plaster rather than tear it out.
Trim, paint and the finishing details
Baseboards, casings and paint finish a room. We prime bare wood and repaired areas properly, use paint rated for bathrooms and kitchens in wet rooms, and caulk the joints that move. These are the details people notice every day.
Flooring, Drywall & Interior Finishes: questions
Engineered wood, porcelain tile or a good vinyl plank all handle humidity and sand well. Solid wood works too with the right installation, but it moves more with the seasons.
Often, yes, if matching boards are available. We weave in new boards and refinish the area. Where the floor has cupped from moisture, we find the source before repairing.
Yes. We repair water-damaged walls, patch after plumbing or electrical work, and finish new walls, as a stand-alone job or as part of a remodel.
