Downey Remodeling, Windows and Additions
Downey remodeling: windows, stucco, patio covers, rear additions and backyard ADUs, plus kitchens and baths, each priced on its own written line.
Downey is a city in Los Angeles County with its own permit process. A mid-century or ranch house with wide eaves, large windows and a covered patio is solid, but original windows, patio covers and stucco show their age. We take on exterior upgrades, additions and remodels here, keeping the mid-century character where you want it and handling the city's plan check.
Keeping the mid-century look
Large expanses of glass, clerestory windows and low rooflines make a mid-century house appealing. Swapping the original single panes for insulated glass in thin frames keeps the look and makes the rooms more comfortable on hot afternoons. Wide eaves protect the walls, but their fascia and rafter ends can rot where gutters overflow. We repair those, replace windows with units suited to the style, and match stucco or siding textures on the walls around them. Clerestories may need new glazing gaskets and frames of their own.
Room to grow
A generous lot makes a rear addition, a larger kitchen or a backyard ADU practical. We design additions that follow the existing rooflines so they read as part of the original house, with the roof joints planned in detail. A kitchen opened to the family room takes an engineered beam and new posts. Each part is priced separately in the written quote, so the work can be staged over time. Garage conversions and ADUs follow the same written approach. Older patio slabs are checked before an addition is placed on them.
