The surrounding wall is then blended so the repair band does not stand out.

Sliding and folding doors several panels wide bring long headers and narrow wall segments, and the plaster beside them cracks diagonally. We open those cracks, check the header and the shear wall beside the opening and add expansion joints where the plaster needs room to move. Long uninterrupted walls also benefit from control joints. The final color coat across each wall evens out fading, with a shade pale enough to bounce back part of the afternoon sun. Door sills get pans.
