Inglewood houses often carry several generations of stucco work on one wall: the original plaster, patches from window changes and newer sections where a garage was converted or a room added. Each joint between old and new is a likely crack. We repair the wall as one system, tying patches into the paper behind them, and finish it so the house reads as a single, even surface from the street.

Patches that never bonded

A patch applied straight over old plaster without bonding agent, or with a different mix, often cracks around its outline and lets water behind it. On many older houses we find window openings that were resized decades ago, with new stucco butted against old and no paper lapped between. We cut those seams open, install paper that laps correctly, span the joint with metal lath and rebuild the plaster coat by coat. The repair then moves with the wall, and the outline of the old patch stops reappearing after every rainy season.

Converted garages and additions

Garage conversions and room additions frequently meet the original house along a straight vertical crack. The two structures may sit on different foundations and move slightly apart. We open that seam, check how the framing was tied together and install a control joint or expansion joint that gives the movement a planned place to go. Paper is lapped from the addition over the original, so water drains out. The finish coat across both sections hides the line and gives the house a uniform color again.
