An LADBS plan reviewer opening a Studio City whole-house set looks for answers to one question: what exists, what is coming out and what is new? Plans that show each condition in its own line style move through review more cleanly than plans that blur them. We draw the existing house first, then lay the changes over it with a legend a stranger can read.

Existing, removed and new

The existing-conditions drawing comes from a tape measure and a flashlight in every room. Walls to be removed carry a dashed line, new walls a heavy one, and anything staying is left light. Each removed wall that carries load points to a beam detail, with the post and footing shown beside it. Door and window schedules list what stays and what changes, and the electrical plan marks which circuits are new. The scope follows the same legend, so a reviewer can match any drawn change to a written line without asking us.

Where the reviewer's questions land

Reviewers look hard at bedroom escape openings, smoke and carbon monoxide alarm locations, the energy forms and any change to the structure. Those items are named in the scope, with the answer written next to each. If a window is enlarged or a wall moves, the drawing says so on the sheet where it belongs, and the structural note sits beside it. Anything still undecided is marked as open, so the reviewer never has to guess. Whether any extra review applies to a lot is checked with the city before the set is submitted.
